Delighted to be holding a copy of ‘Come As You Really Are’, a zine publication that came out of a mini project I ran at Barnsley Civic in April. It was such a joy to work with a whole room of neurodivergent minds, and very heartening and emotional to hear the stories of many late to a diagnosis women. You can grab a copy of Come As You Really Are from the Civic or find it in the Civic’s Zine Library!
Come as You Really Are
A zine celebrating neurodiverse people & their diverse interests
Faciliation, collation & editing: Vicky Morris
Introduction: In the run up to the Come as You Really Are exhibition curated by Hetain Patel (at Barnsley Civic from May to August 2025), we ran a creative writing workshop open to neurodivergent adults, be they formally or self-diagnosed, to explore their interests, hobbies, fascinations, and who they really are.
The workshop was led by writer Vicky Morris and this wonderful zine showcases the resulting writing; from Dr Who collections, to a love of buildings, make up and board games and a fascination with…farts! Enjoy this eclectic mix of interests and expression of identities that urge you to come as you are!
