Pieces of Me (2009 & 2014/15)

Pieces of Me –  Creative writing and factual publications highlighting sexual exploitation – by young people

Role/s:
Young people: Creative writing facilitator & story telling interviewer
Publication: Copywriter, editor and designer

POM 2015 frontThe Pieces of Me series were publication projects resulting from, often long-term, work with vulnerable young people. I worked one to one with young men and women [14+] to draw out their stories and experiences relating to sexual exploitation, and give them the tools and support to reflect and offer advice and insights to peers and adults alike.

Pieces of Me has been distributed nationally with the support of Banardo’s. The success of the first edition in 2009 led to a second edition published in 2015 that included more work by boys and young men.

From Pieces of Me
Pieces of Me is a collection of information, creative writing and advice from young people who are at risk of, or who have experience of, sexual exploitation. It exists to give young people a valued outlet to express their thoughts and feelings around sexual exploitation and to highlight the vulnerabilities in young lives that lead to heightened risk in this area. Each of the young contributors have bravely given something of themselves and their experiences and we want to say a huge thank you to them for their courage, honesty, wisdom and strength.
