July 2005 Digital Design Summer Master Classes
My role was to plan and deliver a one week programme of activity for two weeks of the summer period to secondary school students, (year 9 and above) in web design and photographic related skills. The aim was to provide a quality smorgasbord of hands-on sessions from an industry professional, which could be tailored to individual interests. August 2005 Music Video Summer School
My role as the Artist in Residence was to support the Lead Media Arts Teacher in delivering a week long programme of activities and student production, for an MTV music video competition. Students learned about different aspects of music video production, then worked in small groups using this knowledge to create and edit a 1 minute narrative video piece, to given music tracks. The week culminated in a show and tell event for parents.

Jan 2005 – July 05 Representations
‘ Representations’ was a CUBE Magazine related photography project aimed at encouraging young people to explore media representations of themselves and to define young people in their own terms, using photography. My role was to support and encourage them through idea development, composition and digital exploration. I designed a large-scale banner using a selection of these images and other cube related work, as a celebration of the Magazine's work with young people for Showcomotion Young People's Film Festival
in June 05.

Jan 2005 T-shirt design
A 2 day project first looking at identity, logo design and branding. Students then designed and created individual t-shirt symbols and silhouettes, to represent themselves.

July - August 2004 JOURNEYS Summer school
My role was to plan, co-coordinator and deliver a 3 week programme of activities aimed at 3 groups of young people (15 per group) considered in need of extra support and attention, during the summer, before their transition to secondary school. The aim was to encourage confidence and enjoyment within a learning environment. Activities included animation, photography, digital imaging, drama and graphic design. All participants left with a portfolio and CD of their achievements.

Feb 2004 – June 2004 Photographic Residency - Dobcroft Infants School
Funded by pARTicipate - A partnership between Yorkshire ArtSpace and the Showroom Cinema, working with schools to offer new opportunities for learning creatively
The intention of this pARTicipate residency was for myself as a photographer, to work with all 90 final year students, documenting their time at Dobcroft Infants School. Working in small groups, together we explored different aspects of their school life, favourite activities and memories. The children were encouraged to use their imagination in a visual way and to help make decisions about the type and content of images produced. I prepared a selection of the final work for a permanent large-scale display around the main hall of the school.

Jan 2004 - June 03 Animated Learning
A project set up by South Sheffield City Learning Centre to support schools around Sheffield in using animation in the classroom to engage learning. My role was to assisting teachers new to animation, and offer ideas and guidance, within classrooms.

Jan 2004 - Feb 2004 Aim Higher in the Creative Industries – digital, darkroom and photographic skills
Aim Higher's intention within industry is to raise awareness of higher education and career possibilities within different industries, through taster session and discussions with professionals. Career paths were discussed and work produced in the sessions formed a projected exhibition at Site Gallery.

Jan-June 2004 Perceptions of the City - Developing Creativity
A collaboration project between Site Gallery and Developing Creativity offering students from local schools the chance to work on a once monthly project (5 sessions). Using the gallery’s facilities, location work and brainstorming text, students develop photographic and digital work around the theme of the city.

Jan 2004 Janet Cardiff and George Burres Mini Film Noir project - Sheffield Galleries Education Project
Using their own Film Noir stories and characters, invented through previous workshops on the project, students produced individual collages for Film Noir style posters. My role in this project was to facilitate and support students in their illustration, through photography, drama/dress-up and use of text. The final images were exhibited in the resource area of the Janet Cardiff and George Burres Film Noir Exhibition at the Millennium Galleries, to helps other visitors to understand the concepts behind the work. The project linked to the art and literacy project to produce a resource poster to showcase links between arts and the secondary English curriculum.

Role: Facilitator, photographer and workshop leader – using digital photography, props, a slide projector and stage set, and Photoshop.

Oct 2002 – Feb 2004 Our Generation – An arts heritage project exploring the history of Greasbrough, Rotherham
Funded by The Heritage Lottery Young Roots Scheme www.greasbrough-youth.co.uk [redirected here]
My job as a project leader, tutor & artist/illustrator was to support, teach and guide young people in their interpretations of the visual, audio and written research they obtain about the history of Greasbrough and its residents. They were encouraged to look at how growing up in the area has changed from when older generations were young, the hardships, differences and the good times and the struggles. The funding allowed me to buy two computers for the centre, various software and a digital camera. Participants used photography, digital imagery, web design and journalism skills to create a multimedia project culminating in a web site, booklet and exhibition.

Feb 2002 / Oct 2003 Destination Digital Arts 1 & 2 - Workshop leader in web design, digital imaging and related fields
The first was a pilot digital arts project aimed at young people from schools around Sheffield to explore the creative potential of new media, including digital video/imaging, web design, animation and music. I was employed as an artist and designer to support and teach skills in the above areas. The themes of the projects where 'The Future' and 'Immigration Migration'. Both culminated in a website and CD Rom.

Oct 2001-Jan 2002 The Great Circle – A play about Native American Culture
A partnership project between Rotherham International Centre - Multimedia Department, and Upstart, a creative collaboration of special needs groups located throughout Rotherham. Funded by the lottery – ‘Awards for All’
I was employed as a photographer/artist and workshop leader, to work with members of Upstart to help acquire, create and manipulate images and text to be used as a digitally projected backdrop for an Upstart drama production, illustrating the life and philosophy of Native American culture. The finished images were put together using Macromedia Director to create a ‘slide show’ of images and animation, to be run in time with the productions. I supervised the backdrop during the performances
